Assuming its .net, yes. Google 'Releases · 0xd4d/dnSpy · GitHub'
run dnSpy.exe
Open your exe
File > Export to Project

Why would one "first try to use de4dot"? OP asked for decompilation not deobfuscation, nor did he insinuate that the file is obfuscated in the first place.

right, but since he is asking about decompilation I assumed he didn't know 'dnSpy' so I also assumed that he didn't know 'de4dot'.
Let's hope the loader is a .NET

In any case, you mentioned him de4dot if he needed deobfuscation so in that scenario file first goes through de4dot then goes through dnSpy,ILSpy etc....In any case, he will use the information and keep in mind de4dot.
