Debit card compromised - Jpavs93 - Apr 17, 2019
Hey guys,
Sorry if this is the wrong section to post this, but hoping someone can shed some light on my situation. I recently checked my bank statement and noticed 7 unauthorized charges from "Craigslist_V 6.95" - 7 charges amounting to $6.95 each all in rapid succession. Never been on craigslist in my life. Obviously a site I used my debit card on was compromised as I don't really use my debit card IRL for anything. Any idea why this person would use it on Craigslist and for such a small amount, or is that a cover?

sounds like a common cause of identity fraud or just your cc and/or other information was in some leaked database or you got phished
all could be a possibility not sure how security conscious you are
hopefully you've already called your bank to cancel your card and get this taken care of

Credit cards didn't have any pending transactions, just the debit card. Already called the bank and they froze it and launched a fraud investigation. I don't think I'm dumb enough to get phished and don't remember doing anything sketchy that would allow someone to obtain my debit info. Only really purchased BTC off of Binance in the last week so it's pretty strange.

Oh I know, lol. I already called them right after I noticed it and everything is frozen. Gotta get a new card from my branch tomorrow.

Anyone else have any ideas as to why the hacker wouldn't spend hundreds/thousands rather than a few $7 charges? And why Craigslist, lol.. thought you could only spend money on Craigslist with a card to purchase ad space.
