I've been thinking about super intelligent AIs lately... - Bitemehard - May 16, 2019

If you don't mind reading, this will be worth your while.

So the other day i was thinking about a sentence that my 10th grade english teacher told us. That sentence was "People won't understand that getting hit in the face with a brick hurts until they actually get hit in the face with a brick". This meaning that human beings don't learn by sincere advice, instead they learn through life experience.

Now, this sparked an idea in my mind. I've been researching quantum computing lately and in essence, a quantum computer will take up a superposition of the outcome (meaning the outcome will be both true and false when not being measured by a system) until it is measured. Only then the outcome will take a definitive state.

The way normal computing works is in binary (duh). This means that an outcome will be a definite 1(true) or 0(false). Now, you can set up functions and if statements that will require certain conditions to be met in order to make a decision on the final outcome but that's besides the point. You can think about this as the conscious thinking of a human or rational thinking. (If an outcome is beneficial to the system as a whole then save for future applications)

Quantum computing adds the uncertainty attribute of humans, or the subconscious (irrational) thinking. Think about a child for a second. Most children like pets. Chances are that if you show a child a pet (that being that they've never seen one before) it will spark a subconscious thought process on whether to touch the animal or not. Once the child makes up their mind, a definitive outcome will happen (the child will touch the animal or the child will chose to opt out). That same thought process can be used when creating a super intelligent AI. Once the process is executed, the outcome will then be analyzed against certain parameters using conventional computing to determine whether the system will chose that option again if it encounters the same situation.

So summing it all up

Quantum computing (irrational/subconscious)
Conventional computing (rational/conscious logic and decision making)

With quantum computing, AIs abilities have been growing exponentially for years. It's only logical that current AIs are reaaallly fucking scary impressive by now.

I don't see how the concept of quantum computing applies to this at all.

quantum computing doesn't inherently add any uncertainty lol

In an AI scenario it would. The value of the outcome wouldn't be known until it is measured, read, requested, whatever you would like to call it.

Since you can never KNOW what the value is going to be until it is read, you could say the outcome is in an indecisive state (both at the same time)
