Application surveillance on mobile phones question - The Broker - May 28, 2019

How do we actually know that companies like Apple, Samsung, and other tech giants, aren’t helping companies like google & facebook to gather information on us?

Like how do I actually know that if I turn off the permissions for microphone on Facebook, they will have no way to spy on me?

Also how about the application itself? If I allow permissions to the app only while using it, then for example I close the app on the background, how do I know that the process really stopped and there is no way for Facebook to continue listening to me?

Using Apple.

Effectively you don't know that and there is not a sure way to know. Apple will not share source code and also refuses to make debugging possible for end users so you are out of luck. You'll have to take their word for it that they aren't stealing all your data and selling it or giving it away or leaving it open to be hacked.

If you watch Joe Rogan, he once said that if you're hearing a clicks in your phone while you're dialing or talking that it means you're being monitored, maybe by a friend or family (yeah shocking) installed something, never leave your phone unattended anyway

I think that's pure paranoia as sometimes there's just shit messing with the call like weather and the distance to towers

Exactly, I never really cared for that.
