Does anyone use Matrix/Riot?
We are testing it for possible HF integration. That's our "Community" link above where we also have rooms setup.
Please note that with Riot we can install and manage our own server so that we have 100% control. We won't get shut down. We can also do a lot of Hf integration under that scenario. The software does text, voice, and video chat. It also has a Dark Theme you can choose.
While I know Discord is very popular, it represents challenges for integration with a platform that can at any moment close our account.
Please try it and provide feedback.

It has a dark theme, I'm sold, I've never used Riot before, but everything seems good. The website promises very HQ service, encrypted data etc.

Wondering if it's possible to integrate colors & themes, I'd prefer a much darker color scheme as the Dark Mode can still be distracting with the multiple colors. A nice HF grey color would be beautiful. Apart from that, I'm liking what I see.
Guys, if you are finding the font size too bulky, I really recommend going into settings in General, and selecting "Use compact timeline layout"
Also, in General, turn on the Dark Theme.

I will be downloading and giving it a go. If it's more friendly for integration here on the forums I think that'd be a huge plus.
It'd be nice to see some kind of link attached to profiles linking users to the riot/instant messaging side of HF that is user friendly and private. Would greatly prevent people from getting scammed by fake imposters on skype/disk cords/etc.

Matrix is one of the newer open protocols in the IM scene. It's far less battle-tested than XMPP (which sees millions of users around the world concurrently) and you'll have far less luck integrating it into the site since software libraries are far less mature at this point.

There's far too many inconsistencies for it to be decent atm, it's promising but the DM system is trash, like unbelievably so.

Not so sure about that. It seems to immediately come with a more robust API than XMPP does.
