Dual booting Windows 10 Home - blebleblue - Jun 22, 2019 I need to dual boot Windows 10 home on my brand new laptop and i have heard that I can't simply boot 2 OS into one PC if I am using Windows 10 Home.... IS there any instructions i need to follow to install Linux as sub RE: Dual booting Windows 10 Home - KnownSyntax - Jun 22, 2019 Yes, you can dual boot or even tri-boot. You need to shrink your partition that Windows 10 is on currently to be smaller (if it doesn't let you, run a disk defrag a few times in a row and then reboot and try again). Then, you'll need to make sure you go into Settings > Recovery > Advanced Options > Boot from UEFI USB (if USB if your new boot medium for the Linux distro to be installed from) - make sure that your distro is installed onto the USB with UEFI (non CMS), and proceed with the process from there. Once Linux is installed, go into Windows, and disable the "Fast boot" option under Settings > Power Management > Power Settings, which will remove the aspect where Windows 10 will boot first everytime (it'll now do a full shutdown/reboot vs. a soft shutdown/reboot where it saves the current state to disk). |
