Categorize the Hacking Tutorials section. - Mr. Robot - Jun 24, 2019 This is something I would love to see. Add years to the hacking tutorials section and move/organize some of the threads original post dates to them. Or a drop down bar to select which year/archived after a certain amount of time. >> Or maybe a user rated section. Such as if someone posts a tutorial, if people consider it to be valuable it can be moved to a pinned section. (also dumb suggestion maybe but people donate to a prize pool of bytes that is awarded each month to the person who has the 'best' tutorial) ![]()
RE: Categorize the Hacking Tutorials section. - Mr. Robot - Jun 25, 2019 Main purpose for this is just so many threads that aren't actually tutorials are posted there or bumped from like 2012 that haven't worked since 2013. You can still learn something from them but only like one in fifty. As much as I would like to see it, I know it wont happen. RE: Categorize the Hacking Tutorials section. - Pronouncer - Jun 26, 2019 This one would actually be really nice im behind you on this one. I love digging through the archive and reading shit + those guides from 2013 still have some relavence only needs a bit of tweaking for most that stuff to work RE: Categorize the Hacking Tutorials section. - PrinceOfTruth - Jun 28, 2019 I agree with this. We need some more organization. RE: Categorize the Hacking Tutorials section. - Wake - Jun 28, 2019 I made a suggestion similar to this here and it was closed. I agree with this either separate threads into sections where people can actually learn or place all the high quality ones into one spot. RE: Categorize the Hacking Tutorials section. - Omniscient - Jun 28, 2019 I think even worse is that some of the threads don't even appear to be tutorials. I can understand OP wanting the year to be displayed as some form of organization but then what about search results? I'm not going to separate the section into 10+ different subforums based on years. If anything that section needs stronger moderation. I've just spent 30 minutes on this and honestly I don't see a solution and I wonder if it's really a problem. Yeah i'm not worried about search results if there's a way to leave them in the same base category. Like just have smaller subforums that are searched under the main branch without having to choose. I'd be happy to moderate that section and make it only for tutorials if that were an option. It's my favorite section on HF. I'm leading multiple groups that want their work to be showcased without being pushed into irrelevancy by dogshit off-topic threads (usually from new accounts) asking how to hack their ex's Facebook accounts. I hope staff gets ontop of this or some other solutions is found. It's a section which could really be the backbone of HF imo. How about a tutorial section that relies on the same approval feature as the Testimonial Section? Maybe give the moderation to mentors so that only quality content such as ACTUAL tutorials get through? Food for thought. Also OP: having so many subs would be werid imo but i see where you're coming from. I just feel like there should be a way to show off the HQ EFFORT put in by members without it being drowned out by random threads. I made a similar suggestion to this and it was closed because "There's no need for a separate section as there isn't enough activity." I couldn't agree more with this some members put a lot of work into their threads and some of them are really high quality. This section would take little to no effort to maintain would just require a selected member to go through the Hacking tutorials section once a week for example and add high quality/informative threads to different section like Spaark mentioned.
