For a CCTV server WD Gold is better or WD Purple? - hack3rcon - Jun 26, 2019
Hello.
For a CCTV server we want to select some WD SATA HDDs with 2TB capacity, WD Gold is better or WD Purple? Each HDD must be 2TB.
Thank you.

Either purple or golds would be great options. Purple is obviously meant exactly for your purpose but golds are also super durable for long term abuse. I would go with the cheaper one since there is little need for high performance in a recording application.

I would recommend RED series based on personal experience.

No, I cound't find anything better about them than RED series. Strictly speaking, you don't need special disks for CCTV system. Through, If you are concerned with performance, RED Pro could be a better choice.
