Dumb Question--- Shared Hosting - ernestmiller - Jul 1, 2019

So with shared hosting you only have access to the server along with other users for example.

This restricts bandwidth and disk space.

Also however if you had a Kali Linux VPS that is shared hosting i guess you cannot run as root and you are not on the sudoers list so cannot use sudo.

This would be a major downside and I am guessing restrict your use of tools like tcpdump, metasploit, nmap or anything that requires root to run?

Shared hosting allows multiple websites to utilize a single server. Usually, you’ll have no idea who or what websites you’re sharing the resources of a server with. Each customer will usually have a limit on the total amount of server resources they can use, but this will be defined by your hosting package.

You do not share shared hosting with other users.
