HackForums Email Forwards - Omniscient - Jul 18, 2019

There was over 2000 email aliases that were created back in the day when I gave out hackforums.net email forwards as part of the Ub3r upgrade.

Today there are till 250ish active email forwards that members use. We will be changing services this week. The new service has an API which is why we're moving. We need an API to once again offer free email alias forwards to members.

We are working now to get everything setup and without interruption for existing alias users.

Members will be getting an email in the next 48 hours which will be asking you to confirm the alias. The email will be sent directly to your forwarding address. You'll be given an activation link which will tell us that your forwarding email still works an does indeed belong to you.

Unfortunately we have to do this because the old alias list does not have UID's attached. We'll do our best to make sure this transition is secure with minimal downtime for members.

Ub3r members will once again also have the opportunity to get a free @hackforums.net email forward. I suspect by next week that we will be creating a different thread about it.

Thank you.

Good news! I was waiting for this 🤝

So the emails gonna be [email protected] or [email protected] ?

If not, congrats Ub3r and enjoy it.

I'll think about it. Maybe perm l33ts and not subscription.

We also might add other domains to the service. We get up to 5 domains on the account. Maybe "hacker.im" would be desirable.

Whatever you choose. You get one.

If it's [email protected] then I'm changing my alias to admin to flex on my friends. JK.

This new feature will be good to use. Omni is their any chance a member's email can be targeted by any on-site member with email-bomber . I mean the situation will be fucked up then.

Thank you a lot for this <3

if so, I'm down to donate/transfer to you one of these 2 domains ["hackinglounge.org" "hackingseo.net"] to add them to the list if any of them looks nice as an option. Also [NFAselly.com] If you can make it exclusive for Vendors as there are a lot of users with NFA shops 🤝

We already have this. Did it for 2000+ members before. Only stopped because of how services changed and there was issues with API. It's just like any other email. If you don't publish it no one will know you have it. But yeah, if someone gets it and wants to email bomb you then they can. The service has spam filtering and hopefully whatever forwarding email service you use also has it.

The alias does not require you to use your existing username. You can choose [email protected]. But of course certain emails are restricted such as admin@.

I'll pass on those and NFAselly.com too.

Thanks for confirming that we can choose whatever name we want as a email forwarder.

I love the idea that you can choose whatever you want. But isn't it better that a members name can only be chosen by that specific member? I can't imagine some random member running around with [email protected]

this is "better", but i would still like to pick my email, cuz i want [email protected] (but someone else already has the username null on hf)

I get that. But I can imagine the naming being abused.

If they want to waste their one pick on trolling someone that would be pretty funny.

yeah I wouldn't be that surprised, but even so, would be a dumb move because it can be easily figured out who really owns the email, so if someone scams or does some stupid shit with your name, they would get rekt pretty fast
