Honestly thought you were talking about people at first. Yeah I've been there, it's pretty cool.

Yeah I know what you meant, I was indeed making a snarky comment about the state of politics in the US currently.

But it's where the turtles live.

Never really felt comfortable walking around there. Actually I don't feel comfortable walking around in any major city. Paris is nice in the evenings if you know where to go for some less touristy places, but something just feels off. Like you always have to be careful walking around, not to get bumped into and robbed or tricked.

I've been to NYC. Not a fan personally. There is some cool stuff to see and do, but that kind of life is not for me.

It's odd though, isn't it? You're supposed to feel safe. You're supposed to have the freedom to go where you please, talk to the people you want, being on a holiday everything is nice. The people are nice, yet you're always looking behind your back for any signs of trouble, avoiding certain places because of those fears and generally even in hotels having to wonder whether the maid will somehow open the safe and steal the contents of your wallet while you're out. Kinda ruins it for me.

Seeing counter terrorism units on every street corner near Times Square should make me feel safe, but it doesn't. Stuff like that makes me wonder why that's necessary and then think of all the things that crazy people do and have done in the past.

Yeah. Jesus. That's right there in the feels.

When I was a kid, I used to travel with my parents in Africa. More specifically we went to countries like Algeria and Israel and once got lost four a couple of hours in the desert but that's a different story altogether.

Point is, sometimes they'd have these kids running around with guns. That was so mind-blowingly messed up. Kids, with guns, patrolling the streets? Hell, if I was a kid and had a job like that I'd probably mess up and shoot people without thinking too much about it. I can't help but feel like one of those guys with guns, somewhere, is trigger happy enough to shoot you for bending over suspiciously in order to tie your shoes.
