Unbelievable optical mouse story. UN BE LIE VA BLE. - 4158996621556 - Aug 23, 2019

hi.

im sitting here typing this out still paralyzed by the experience

posting in lounge cuz idk where else to post, and i hope people will read, maybe say "i had the same problem!!!! and heres how i fixed it" (but i hope no one went through what i went through)

basically my mouses have always worked fine and for a few years i've just had to use one mouse, obviously, didnt need to switch it everyday, but one day the mouse stops working. out of nowhere, just..stops moving, well, luckily, it was just the batteries. replaced em, everything was fine

few days later, it stops working again, im like: but i replaced the batteries already?
put them out, put them back in, didn't work. put in new ones, and it works again.

now at this point, i'm already speechless, did it use up all the energy in a few days?
maybe there was a problem with a battery, idk.. well, everything works fine

few weeks later, same thing happens, but mouse doesn't turn back on, im forced to use a bad mouse for a bit, waiting for a better one to come

this happened 1/2 months ago so it's all a fuzzy memory, but basically since that time, i've always had problems with constantly needing to replace batteries UNTIL the mouse completely breaks!

2 weeks ago i got a quite nice mouse so that i wouldn't have the problem anyways. well guess what? mouse stops working again.

the crazy thing? sometimes i test it out on another computer, and they work fine!

the whole story reached a climax today.

YESTERDAY. YESTERDAY. YESTERDAY. YESTERDAY!!! READ IT AGAIN: YESTERDAY. YESTERDAY!. YESTERDAY
YESTERDAY I BOUGHT A NEW MOUSE. (because the week before the good mouse i had bought also stopped working, and i had to use a shit one until this one arrived)
well guess what?

TODAY. TODAY. TODAY. TODAY. TODAY, READ IT AGAIN, DID YOU READ IT? TODAY!!!!!!!!!

while playing around, it just stops moving.
it STOPS moving. i can left click, i can right click. i can move it

plug it in my old computer, it ALSO doesn't move there. so its not a driver problem.

now, this is the 6/7 mouse that stops working a few days/weeks before needing new batteries/gone completely

i dont know if there's an USB port on my desktop that somehow destroys each mouse USB?
i dont know if its the surface that I place the mouses on....its green, is it important?

computer geniuses, please help me

and no. yes i am a doge but please do not assume that i ate the mouses ok. im not THAT hungry.

help ,me

Try a different USB port, or maybe get USB hub that grounds itself by plugging into a wall as a power source. You could check the voltages as well on the ports if you can handle that, could be an issue with some sort of interface chip. If it's a desktop you can add new USBs.

Just ideas, I'm sure there are better.

yea im switching up the usb port with the new mouse and i'll see how long it takes before this one dies too. idk about the usb hub yet, if this also breaks then i'll get an usb port.
i'll also try the mouse i got yesterday again tomorrow.
apparently there's a low power indicator on the MOUSE I BOUGHT 1 DAY AGO. but the thing is that:
1) THE MOUSE WAS BOUGHT YESTERDAY!
2) I USED 2 NEW BATTERIES ON IT. 2 NEW BATTERIES. HOW CAN THEY DIE SO FAST?
3) I REPLACED THE 2 BATTERIES WITH 2 AGAIN, NEW BATTERIES! and it still shows as low power indicator

i feel like im in a sitcom! what a joke

There are quite a few things that could be causing this, I edited my first post a little. You're just gonna have to narrow it down, I would personally check voltages on the ports if possible. As well as check to see how your power supply is performing.

Oh they did a study where green mouse pads use up mouse batteries something like 700% faster, depending on what shade of green
