Is this a good build? What motherboard? - superblaze27 - Sep 4, 2019 I don't have this -- yet. I'm planning on buying it, I just need to know the best configuration. I'd use it for minecraft shaders and just megatasking in general. Intel Core i9-9900K - $500 AORUS NVMe Gen4 SSD 1TB - $260 2060 Super - $450 Motherboard (don't need rgb) 1151 - ? Cooling - ? Power supply - ? Ram - ? (2666) Okay so I also have an alternative more op build. i7-9800X - $600 AORUS NVMe Gen4 SSD 1TB - $260 2060 super - $450 Motherboard 2066 - ? Power supply - ? Ram - ? (2666) Currently I'm running a 950GTX, i5 6400, 8GB ram. What are your thoughts on these builds? What motherboard is best, what ram is best, and what should I do for power supply? I've heard that the i9-9900K is better for gaming, and just in general. RE: Is this a good build? What motherboard? - Breeze26509 - Sep 4, 2019 You're not going to be running a PCIe 4.0 SSD on a 9900k. Intel only supports PCIe 3.0, whereas AMD support PCIe 4.0. 9900k is the best CPU if your priority is JUST gaming. AMD's Ryzen CPUs are much stronger for multitasking, and if you really care about that, then you should look into the Ryzen 9 3900x. Similar price to the 9900k, and offers 12 cores and 24 threads instead of just 8 cores and 16 threads. RE: Is this a good build? SSD, I suggest you take anything by Samsung, more speed/reliable. Gen4 isn't going to work on Intel yet. Cooling, that CPU is gonna put up a lot of heat, take care of that with an AIO if you want good thermals and want to overclock NZXT is a good one. |
