I was reading a thread once about a program that could edit some .exe / .dll files? but i forgot the name
Anyone know how i could edit a exe? Please reach out. Thanks

There are different kind of executable files that you have to keep in mind though. Is it a .NET application, is it a native image, is it simply an installer which you need extracted?
In essence, depending on the file, you might need different tools to get what you want.
For simple .NET applications, there's dnSpy:
