Authorities in Kern County destroyed about 10 million marijuana plants being grown under the guise of industrial hemp.

Investigators with the Kern County Sheriff’s Office seized the plants, which they estimate to have a street value of more than $1 billion, from 11 fields in the Arvin area on Oct. 25, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office. The seizure was first reported by the Bakersfield Californian.

Industrial hemp is a variety of cannabis sativa plant that has much lower levels of the psychoactive chemical THC than are found in marijuana. Industrial hemp grown for commercial sale must, by law, contain no more than 0.3% THC, though there’s an exemption for hemp grown for research purposes, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The plants seized by investigators were being grown for commercial consumption and contained THC contents “well over” the legal limit, meaning that they “were in fact cannabis,” the sheriff’s office said. Kern County voted to ban commercial cannabis activity in 2017.

Yeah the drug war is a complete failure IMO. They really haven't helped the actual problem at all.

It's not a failure, the people who started the war are now insanely wealthy from the war.

True, it is a failure from a public health standpoint. It is terrible everyone else but those elite scumbags.

Crazy thing is that it could be any commodity. One day could sadly see a war on water.

That's why I am super pro second amendment, we need to protect our rights.

For sure, the only thing that bugs me is that the true enemy is a herd of psychopaths. You know, the type of people who will do anything politics tell them, they have no conscience just waiting for more orders from the Broadcast. They will fuck you over as soon as they feel they have a safe chance, most are cowards, but some are clever, the real thing they all want is some sort of power over others in their life. You can often find them in lower management positions at walmarts and other run of the mill mega dept stores. Politicians know this type of human species exists and play it all the way to the bank. At least this is my view on mainstream politics in a paragraph.

"Industrial hemp" means a crop that is limited to types of the plant Cannabis sativa L. having no more than three-tenths of 1 percent tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) contained in the dried flowering tops, whether growing or not; the seeds of the plant; the resin extracted from any part of the plant; and every compound, manufacture, salt, derivative, mixture, or preparation of the plant, its seeds or resin produced therefrom.

Not legal if you are breaking that 3/10th threshold.

We would be dead if it wasn't for plants.

These laws are ridiculous.
