How can I learn to use winapi in C ? - 939cv5t8mn - Nov 21, 2019

Hi,
I know C well, I attended various courses at the university in the past. I'd like to start learning how to use windows api in C language. Where should I start? What are the best resources that I can use in this forum and online?

I am not aware of a good resource to learn the winapi. What I would recommend though, is that you start creating mini-projects (which you may combine in the end together) that you they will allow you to learn it. Of course, you 'll ask me how you are going to use the winapi if you don't know its usage. The answer to that question is simple, you visit the official WinApi documentation. For example, if you want to properly start an executable, the best would be to use the CreateProcess function, which of course has it's own page on Microsoft's winapi documentation, and you can see its arguments, the data types it accepts etc. If you are confused even then on how to use these functions, you can always google a sample usage of the function (there are millions of examples online) and learn from there.

I recommend creating a RAT. A simple RAT.

Start with sections of it such as the networking. First build out a client/server model using the WinApi with WSA functions.

After that look into doing somethings like directory search using functions like FindNextFile, etc.

Once you start to get a grip of the Windowsisms then you can start merging it all together and making it all communicate and work together.
