Is it possible, to ban someone from using the internet entirely? - trolltohacker - Dec 11, 2019 If someone got into trouble for doing something on the internet, could that person then be restricted, by law, from the internet? Surely it would be impossible to enforce, what with VPNs, public Wifi and being in a shared accommodation where other people must use the internet. RE: Is it possible, to ban someone from using the internet entirely? - AwakenGP - Dec 11, 2019 You just answered ur question urself xD RE: Is it possible, to ban someone from using the internet entirely? - Vuln - Dec 11, 2019 Yes that does happen, at least for a limited amount of time. Like so many laws, it would obviously be pretty hard to enforce. RE: Is it possible, to ban someone from using the internet entirely? - wiz - Dec 11, 2019 Yeah, put them in a jail cell and monitor them 24/7 RE: Is it possible, to ban someone from using the internet entirely? - Stork - Dec 11, 2019 I got flooded on xbox one time and that blew my router up so I'm not sure if that counts? RE: Is it possible, to ban someone from using the internet entirely? - hayesh - Dec 11, 2019 I hope not,the internet should be treated like a public utility like water or electricity. RE: Is it possible, to ban someone from using the internet entirely? - spiral - Dec 11, 2019 they do it with sex offenders and shit, especially ones who are involved with kids. they enforce it by monitoring them like 24/7 doing checks on their houses, and with the threat of going back to jail if caught, thats how they enforce it RE: Is it possible, to ban someone from using the internet entirely? - trolltohacker - Dec 11, 2019 (Dec 11, 2019 11:33 AM)spiral Wrote: they do it with sex offenders and Clay Davis, especially ones who are involved with kids. they enforce it by monitoring them like 24/7 doing checks on their houses, and with the threat of going back to jail if caught, thats how they enforce it How do they prevent routers being bought and contracts being signed, etc? Would have have to inform all the ISPs? What about in the case of shared accommodation? They couldn't prove who was making the use of the service. Simply connect to VPN, they wouldn't know shit. Even so, anyone can buy a pay as you go dongle these days. Public WiFi. Completely unstoppable as far as the authorities would be concerned. They can try and prohibit you from using it but without incarcerating you there is a risk of you gaining access through means like you just said. RE: Is it possible, to ban someone from using the internet entirely? - Bluffer - Dec 11, 2019 I expect within the next decade an internet ban will be challenged up to the level of Supreme Court in a few major countries like US and Canada and UK and Australia. The way society is heading, it will be a violation of rights to barr somebody from internet. Rather I'm certain there will be and is heavy restrictions put in place on internet use. This means constant monitoring, they will see what devices you have and search your property regularly to ensure you don't have any other devices and install monitoring software on all the ones they know of. "Search your property" Maybe in those other countries, but not in the US of A. I also found a link to an article that spoke of internet monitoring rooms in telephone exchanges. If such a thing is possible then there would be no need to install monitoring software on devices. Well here in Canada they'd just have it as part of probation, not sure if works the same way in the US. Really interested to see if the courts will say internet access is a right though in the future, especially as we rely on it more and more. RE: Is it possible, to ban someone from using the internet entirely? - scam. - Dec 11, 2019 Cyber crime is for pussies go rob a liquor store like a real man RE: Is it possible, to ban someone from using the internet entirely? - Liema - Dec 11, 2019 most countries there aint no internet in the jail cells. if they have committed that serious crime then they will be jailed :/ RE: Is it possible, to ban someone from using the internet entirely? - Crimin4L - Dec 11, 2019 (Dec 11, 2019 10:23 AM)wiz Wrote: Yeah, put them in a jail cell and monitor them 24/7 Best answer xD Seriously tho, kinda answered your own question. How would a device know who is using it, so even if they blocked all your items then you can for example just use your friends computer and BAM = On the internet! And thats even if they "ban" you, which is a huge if... |
