Loose gems/precious stones - TheChaosKiller - Dec 15, 2019

If you had come into ownership of some loose gems or precious stones, where would you sell them for the best profit? I've touched upon this before, but I've been paid in the past with gold from a client, nothing too extravagant but just standard gold coins which I was able to sell on for fiat, while keeping some just for the sake of having them. However, I'm now being offered some gems from someone from the same industry, and I've said no for now. However, I am curious as it seems harder to sell them on than gold, so if anyone has any experience in this, I'd love to know more.

Take them to a gem shop or find a gypsy online. I have some from and old gf you can also try farmers markets and flea markets

Also in possession of some stones I need to offload. Gonna see what the retail market offers me first. If the price is no good, I'll sell it online instead. Though I scored this diamond for like 1/10th market value, so whatever they offer I'll probably take as it will still be a comeup. Good luck bro!

I'm in the UK, so gypsies here are not the stereotypical kind who may know abut that kinda stuff from my experience. I don't think we really have gem shops either, most sites seem to recommend pawn shops but they'll give awful prices.

Where would you be advertising them? I can't seem to find any good source of info as to where to start, it's all either pawn shops or street jewellers but with both giving low prices for the value. I'm very close to considering accepting them just out of curiosity, but I don't know if I can even sell them on lol.

ahahah, i had a similar thought, i prefer how you worded it though.

I think maybe the grey market? There's got to be discords for that sort of thing. I'm sure prices wouldn't be too bad. I doubt selling it to a large vendor would be the way to go?

Hahaha no the guy is a jeweller by trade, and I sometimes do consultant work for him and after some discussion with people on here months back I accepted some gold as a payment from him, and actually made a decent amount from selling it on afterwards. His colleague is a gem stone merchant and wants to pay in similar fashion, but I'm just trying to make sure I'm safe and won't lose out by accepting them. I probably won't, but always good to plan things out just in case.

I got into one server about it, and it was mostly just kids trying to peddle their synthetic gems bought from Wish and AliExpress. I'm leaning towards not accepting them ever, it feels like it's gonna be a lot of work, but I'm just been cruising a forum dedicated to it so hopefully I'll find some answers.

I have some stones that are just lying around the house. They've been there for years, they're like crystals almost.
