Inactivity and Bytes Policy - Omniscient - Dec 23, 2019

I have now added language to the HF Help Docs https://hackforums.net/misc.php?action=help&hid=24.

Quote:My Bytes were deleted, where did they go?
The Bytes for a member are set to 0 if there is one year of account inactivity. They can't be recovered.

Thank you.

Change 1 year to 30 days

Hehehehe

Sucks to suck, suckers.

Inactivity means not logging in right? Like you don’t have to post to be active?

Over a year. Sometime in like June 2018 give or take a month

That's what I was going to say. June 2018. Just about the same time as contracts.

This is very reasonable, hopefully nobody riots :P

RE: Inactivity and Bytes Policy - Yin Yang - Dec 23, 2019

Just wondering as to why this change was implemented?

Like I doubt if someone was inactive for a year, would care for their bytes at that point.

Because we are going to show stats public for the Bytes economy. We have a lot of policies with pruning. This is just one more.

Fair enough. I don't really see this really causing an issue at all.

Ooo are we getting a new Bytes stats page?

That would be wicked cool to see.

I like this idea and think it’s very fair.
Question: does this also apply to members accounts being closed?

When a member's account is closed I believe there Bytes are wiped at that specific moment of closure already. I'm not 100% but I think that is what happens already.

every time I have seen a member be closed they always have 0 bytes, i think it happens instant

RE: Inactivity and Bytes Policy - Mr Kewl - Dec 23, 2019

This is very fair I guess, no point of them bytes if you're not around for more than a year.

That’s what I thought.
However in the Crypto game this member still shows as number one in the rankings.
Said member has been closed for some time now.

RE: Inactivity and Bytes Policy - Mix - Dec 24, 2019

Loving the updated page on the Help Docs, A year is a very long time so I am sure that people who wait 365 days to not log in to find they have no bytes anymore are sure to not even notice.
