Are you native english speaker? - nicemanforlife - Jan 7, 2020

I am not native english speaker, I live in europe

I know english from games

🤩 🤭 🤝 🤗 🎉

What about you?

Honestly im not working

But if employer saw my english skillz

He would get banana smile

And I would get a job

I dream about traveling to America (scared of patologic cops and cops system Though) and getting to work in popular programmer company that even folk in my country know

I had lessons in school but they never taught me anything.

at age of 17 i already knew english better than my teachers or at least i knew more words

the truth is i did very poorly in school so any skill I learned was from computer and internet

My first english words and sentences were learned from multiplayer games (mmorpgs mainly) and then from websites and forums.

(in the end i learned more from gaming for few years than from spending half life in school :X :C :): ( )

😉 😉 😉 😉

This is so true

Who decided teens need to learn to sau weird things like

The dog eats bread..or I would like to go gliding on Monday.

Things like languages are best learnt when you have to use them, like through games, or visiting a country.

exactly man! I learned english because it was useful for gaming and programming. if you want to code, english is a must. they teach us ton of useless things in school that we will forget in 2 months completely anyway LOL education system needs to be completely reworked

I think schools are trying to prepare you for every eventuality...

In my life I use my maths and science knowledge.
English- I think I learnt all the english I need for life by the end of primary school
History/Geography-I did not hate it, but everything I learnt can be found on google

If I was ruler of the world, i would make education (language+maths+google skills)

I am. And I agree, almost nobody at school did well at French at school. (including me). It just isn't a language that interested me or most other people, and the lessons were boring and didn't work very well IMO. I think what you said is true, the best way to learn a language is not in lessons, but in places you actually use it, in your case video games or forums. In the future I will try to learn a language, but I've been told its a difficult language to learn (I would like to learn Japanese). But I don't really have time for it nor is my mind ready for that at this time.
