Killer inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez - Canadian - Jan 19, 2020

What'd you all think about the documentary series? I went in thinking it would be lame but was quite surprised by it. I have always said I'd play any sport but football for the sheer amount of concussions. I'm in Canada and maybe a little biased toward hockey, and I genuinely don't want to argue that it was all football's fault. I think it played a role in the young man's experiences. I'm on the fence about how much, though. The science seems to speak for itself, but I'm not sure it entirely does. Anyways I don't want to spoil it's worth the watch, I think. I'd recommend it!

Traumatic brain injury is a thing, and so is chronic traumatic encephalopathy. They can cause anger issues, uncontrollable anger, a complete change in personality, etc. That's just the danger of the sport unfortunately, and unless they massively change the way tackling works in American Football, I don't ever see it changing.

I’ve seen it & a lot of stuff really surprised me. Football definitely did play a part but it was definitely everything that happened around him in life that would lead him to do those things.

Is it on Netflix or something?

Yeah it's a tad of a time commitment. Each episode's over an hour.

I like documentaries like the Ice Man and others, but not every killer is fascinating or teach full I think.

Yes but most people with brain injury do not do this (football context or otherwise). There has to be some accountability on the person, it's not black and white.

I'm not even a football fan, it's just an interesting case. A killer going through his professional sports career, wth? I think it's worthwhile.

I could understand the impulse control from traumatic brain injury but I do not believe it had caused premeditated murder.

Also the I don't care vibes he was giving off was astonishing especially the phone call to his wife saying "what if I did, does it even matter if I killed him?". I feel this radical change was from built up anger and giving in to it.

Seemed to be a combo of things, but I think cte played a big part in it. I don’t believe it made him violent but I believe it effected his impulse control. I also believe him being so close to his old friends and hanging out turning to fit in with that crowd also played a factor into.
