REFT.io - NEW General Forum - Thrift - Jan 21, 2020

I have been working on a little project, it is called REFT.io
This forum is NEW, and there are no threads or posts as of right now but I will be planning on introducing SEO and advertisement down the line once a small user base comes in and we weed out all the bugs, and issues.

This is a general forum and currently has no specific niche. I understand that forum requires a specific niche to gain popularity, but I feel as once a userbase comes in, categories will be added and the niche will go in the area of the community. I just want to stress that this is a community-based project, and I want people interacting and making friends.

Either way, I thought I would showcase my forum and see what everyone thinks about it. Now please understand, this will never be a finished product and currently has some visible bugs. I plan on introducing features regularly, and updates frequently.

Thanks! I can't wait to hear your opinions.

I think it's neat that every technical person goes through a phase of creating a forum, and then slowly watches it die. The design is fine, the utility is nil. Just another forum on the net. Nothing new.

Been there, done that. Except I did it ~30 times under different domains. Forums are a dying medium. As things like Discord and Telegram rise, forums dwindle to nothing.

Thanks, I definitely do not mind a low pop forum. I really enjoy the interaction and having insightful conversations with other people. If it dies, oh well at least I had some fun making it and chatting with the people helping me or the people conversing on the forum.

Definitely! I understand they are a dying platform, but that doesn't really bug me. I really enjoy the concept of a forum.

To create a successful forum, you'd need to have good amount of budget to keep it running. If you ever thought of making it gain profits instantly after releasing and thinking people will invest or buy some kind of packages on your forum, that's absolutely non-sense. You'll need to have patience to keep it running facing many problems.

What would I actually prefer for the color is to make the board names as white as they're what supposed to be highly concentrated and the descriptions as the light grey. Removing useless things like Calendar may reduce the forum load imo. Also, I wouldn't keep a full-stop on a site title like you've kept.

The theme looks good at all. I've always been a fan of dark themes and this is what I prefer. Although, I feel like I've seen the theme somewhere. You sure you just made it or grabbed theme and made edits?

I have a pretty large budget, if all goes well I don’t mind spending more. Profits are currently not even in my radar, this is purely for the social aspect.

Thank you for the suggestions, I will play around with it and see what colors work best. I appreciate the theme compliment, dark themes are superior.

I was part of the forum (dev/mod) when it was open, I have contacted Sweets multiple times with no response for partnership or copyright license.
