Secret Identity Member - Xerotic - Feb 3, 2020
Today we introduce a new feature to Hack Forums called Secret Identity Member (SIM).
This is a feature that any member can take advantage of. You simply visit the change username page and click the checkbox labeled "Switch to a Secret Identity Member". When you do that your username will become SIM-UID where UID is your account User ID (UID). For example, my username would be SIM-175033 as a Secret Identity Member.
All members have the option to change their username to a Secret Identity Member for greater anonymity.

This seems so pointless.
If I wanted to be SIM-400724 I could just change my username to that 🤔

Secret Identity Member is an ability that non-upgraded members have as well. However, an upgrade is still required to change to a custom username.

So for those that signup with firstNameLastName that ask for a name change can technically get their name fixed? I see now.

But isn't a username an alias? I'm not seeing the use case here, but I'm all for anonymity.

Guessing for non-upgraded members who signed up using Discord and etc.

That's right. An option exists now.

Depends what you are going for. Not everyone has the same purpose online.

Yes, in the same way it is saved when changing your username normally.

When I check your trust scan it still shows your previous username, so I don't know how secret it really is if upgraded members at least can see your previous username in trust scan?

Nice feature, i like it.
However buy using the new SIM and not changing ones avatar (Most older members know our avatars) one would still know who we are.

Example, Even though you have a SIM-175033.
I still know who you are.
