Who is OP8?
  • OP8 is made up of a small group of highly trained individuals in various software and security fields.
  • OP8 strives to produce AAA quality products and services to the HackForums community.
  • OP8 staff and team members share in all the group profits. (Get paid to be in a group, not the other way around!)
  • OP8 members will receive professional training, private methods, exclusive offers, and much more.

Not just another group...

The core OP8 team is a skilled group of software developers, security researchers and systems engineers with experience in different aspects of the information technology industry. We strive to share and collaborate but most importantly learn about how things work. Coming from different groups throughout the internet, our core team has been active since 2001. We have a burning desire to understand the systems that we use most often, to try and exploit them. Not only to benefit ourselves, but to benefit those that use them. We aren't a group of hackers for hire. We are not a political movement or cause. We are a group of people who like to push the boundaries and question everything.


Would I fit in?

That's a tough question, take a look below at some of the things we like to talk about. In general if you answer yes to any of the following questions, you'd probably fit.
  • Do you like to take things apart to see how they work?
  • Do you feel the need to jailbreak/root/mod everything you get?
  • Can you count cards/calculate odds/really good at algebra?
  • Do you enjoy patterns? Can you identify patterns easily?
  • Are you good at memory or strategy based games?
  • Do you find superfluous rules to be a waste of time?
  • Do you commonly solve challenges differently than others?

What is OP8's focus?
  • Leaks. (Databases, Rawerror logs, RAT metadata, packet logs, private code, and more.)
  • Exploits. (Public, Semi-Private, Private, and even 0-day)
  • Security. (OPSEC, INFOSEC, risk mitigation, and vulnerability assessment)
  • Privacy. (VPNs, Qubes/Kali/Tails, PGP, and other risk mitigation methods)
  • Informational Software as a Service (SHODAN, Vega, Skipfish, etc)

  • No Open/Unresolved Contract Disputes ( Exceptions for those who post proof of no wrong-doing on the dispute thread )

  • A portfolio that consists of your own unique work

  • (Optional+) Data warehousing and analytics (Spark/Dask/etc)

We have developed a service to generate applications tokens, but it seems that our application is not working...if you can fix it, it will provide an application token. Please submit the application with your gitlab username to gain access to our repositories. You may edit your application and provide your application token once you have completed the assessment.

Application Token Challenges
For the development and R&D sectors we have created various challenges and assessments that will be used alongside of your application in the decision process. Among these are CTF-inspired challenges and code reviews in the form of merge requests that will test your programming knowledge and your skills as well as your understanding of software development control systems.

For the CTF-style challenges there are no rules. You can use any tools in your arsenal (or write them yourself for brownie points) to find the solution and a summary/write-up of your process will help tremendously to gauge your understanding. Please do not post your papers on this thread, rather PM a leader directly with a reference of your Token.

For the code reviews you should submit comments that would improve the code or fix a bug or even add a useful thought or idea.

Remember that you are applying to a group with the intention of becoming a part of a team. You will be working together with others and with that comes a shared level of responsibility.

We had our differences regarding the rate my userbar.
That aside I like this concept. And I like the fact that you as the only recent group, does not print “BUY IN” all over the place. But rather expect an application like the old groups used to do.

As of right now, yes. In the coming month or two we will hold a more general recruitment for members who may not be as skilled in the specific fields but have a desire to learn.
