Huge Experience on Computer Hardware - Jackson877 - Feb 18, 2020

Hey ,

Just making this thread i think i can help on any hardware issue or question if needed

What CPU/GPU combo would you recommend for the popular esports titles to run >144fps? Games like CS:GO, Fortnite, PUBG, and Overwatch.

used a combination of XEON W3680 which is quite old with GTX 1660. it runs arond those fps smoothly. And this setup comes cheap if u know where to get it. I aint no kid and i dont play games but i know my setups

Personally I wouldn't use any CPU that came out a decade ago for a brand new setup. What modern hardware would you choose?

On a low budget, I would recommend a 1070 and at least an i5 6th gen minimum.

as a recommendation, I would go with more modern hardware but I must admit I am a little basis to Intel and not AMD.

Intel side:

CPU - i7 7700k
GPU - GTX 1070ti/1080/1660ti

AMD side:

CPU - Ryzen 7 2700x
GPU - GTX GTX 1070ti/1080/1660ti

Well in my country it is all about budget. Since when u launch a game the most work is done by the GPU i would YES install an old XEON (6 cores - 12 threads) and give the rest of the budget to purchase a better GPU. It is done and tested and if u choose wisely u will be suprised of the results. On the other hand if the budget allows me i would build with the latest i7 or i9 and at least 1080 GPU in order to make that pc compatible with games that will launch after 3 or 4 years. But we are talking about totally different budgets! And i am no fan of AMD either.

A lot of those titles that webdev listed are fairly CPU intensive though... You're not hitting 144+ fps in anything but Notepad with that Xeon.
Since you're all about the budget, and assuming you want the best "bang for the buck" as it were, you would know that Intel is absolutely NOT the best bang for the buck for pretty much anything since 2017.
You'd have a far better experience with something like a 6 core 12 threaded Ryzen 5 3600 and an RX 580 than you would with a Xeon from 10 years ago and a last generation GPU. 3600 would wipe the floor with your Xeon.

I stated something that i made and tested. I am building pcs approx 10 years . Am not yrying to prove anything. Obviously newer CPUS are far better but for achieving those fps u could use the setup i mentioned. We were talking about a SPECIFIC setup...not which cpu is better..

I'm back from the grave to say this is the funniest CRAP I've read on HackForums in a really long time!

Unless you are running a server a Xeon isnt even worth thinking about unless you cant find or get a processor that is made for daily takes and gaming... 😭😭😭😭

Older used Xeon systems cost far less than Intel I series counterparts with almost no difference other than being locked. They do make a good budget used gaming computer.

Although I would not recommend it unless one is on a very tight budget

You have contradicted yourself very well within this statement. I don't think I need to say anything else here.

Could you please explain how I contradicted myself?
