Impersonators - Threat - Feb 21, 2020
Hello, recently one member has told me that I have a impersonator that goes on discord and messages people who reply on my threads by finding their discord via posts and is trying to scam them.
I will always use a contract, and always remember to pm verify with me or convo verify to make sure its me. I will never deny it.

It’s pretty easy to not get impersonated... don’t use discord.

Use https://www.textmagic.com/free-tools/unicode-detector to look for hidden characters in discord username if you suspect you are dealing with the impersonator.

I'm glad he verified it with me on-site first.
And luckily I always put my btc address in the contract, to avoid conflict.

Banning discord completely is like a double edged sword, it reduces the possibility of off-site scamming due to actual impersonators, or just really scummy members acting like it is an impersonator but also makes things a little more difficult for users who use discord correctly and follow onsite rules. It's a shit situation but I would not blame Omni if discord got banned again because the amount of "impersonators" is growing and there is very little he can do without just banning sharing user names again. Fuck impersonators and fuck people who use that as a defense to scam people.

doesnt stop users from dealing offsite though. i dont see how it really changes anything by being banned. all its telling users if you do a deal on discord you cant make a scam report. it will never fully stop no matter what. it happens on every forum. discord is to big to just say im gonna ban discord it will solve all scam reports. as users post their discords on many places here. thread designs etc and id guess most of them have find the said user offsite as well doing the same thing. there was a big story about a greek scam guy here and to me that guy is behind 80 percent of impersonations according to reddit
