Since the crew list is linked to the hack game the list is found in there but it would be a nice idea for xerotic to add the page a little clearer since not everyone can find it that easily.

Do people actually use them for the game or are they basically just a cheaper group?

Crews are basically like a clan for the Hack game, Xerotic has planned for the crews to battle each other in the hack game and so it's pretty much like a group but with a userbar that covers whatever userbar you currently have. Also, you don't get a subforum like groups.

Correct, plus Crews can only have a maximum of 20 members.
As with groups can have unlimited members.

Yep, Crews only get 20 members.
If you take a look at the crews list we’re “The Goons” are the only Crew that
Has the maximum amount of members.
