Tessler emerged in Silicon Valley in the 1960s, when computers were not a common item floating around, but rather a treat. He was born in 1945 in Bronx, New York, and studied at Stanford. He began working at the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (Parc) shortly after graduation, followed by Apple for 17 years, and went on to work for Amazon and Yahoo, too. “The inventor of cut/copy & paste, find & replace, and more, was former Xerox researcher Larry Tesler. Your workday is easier thanks to his revolutionary idea’s.” Xerox tweeted. Cut and paste was based “on the old method of editing in which people would physically cut portions of printed text and glue them elsewhere.” In 1983, the command was implemented on the Lisa computer, one-year shy of the Macintosh being released. “There’s almost a rite of passage – after you’ve made some money, you don’t just retire, you spend your time funding other companies.” – Larry Tessler >>Source Gretel Ex-NSA, AWS, and Google engineers came up with an idea to launch a website like GitHub, but for data. Gretel can carry confidential sample data for developers to use when it comes to improving new features or data to work with a new project. Alex Watson, one of the co-founders said, “There’s all these really cool use cases that people have to do with data. But there’s no GitHub equivalent for data.” Machine learning will be used to categorize the artificial data that will be available for developers on Gretel. $3.5 million has been secured in funding to start the process of building Gretel, with more commitment to developers coming in the coming weeks. >>Source Another Cyber Attack in The Books DISA (Defense Information Systems Agency), which is responsible for cybersecurity for the military, communications in combat zones, and monitoring calls for the US President, has been hit by a cyber-attack. Some of the computer systems that control the agency were attacked during the summer of 2019, with the attacker receiving personal information about 200,000 people. The agency began to send letters to those affected, Andy Piazza, a veteran, and cyber threat analysis said that he was not concerned with the data that had been collected but was more concerned that he had received more of these letters from different firms and organizations recently about data breaches. >>Source ![]() Plaintiffs in class action suit against Riot aren't settling for $10 million anymore Before the start of the new year, Riot Games was supposed to pay a settlement of $10 million to female employees starting from back in 2014. News has begun to circulate that the Plaintiffs are not satisfied with the payout that they were awarded from the trial and court proceedings. Riot's legal team has commented on the matter with this, "These brave women spoke out against gender inequality and sexism, and I want to make sure they are fairly compensated," Harrison said in a statement. "Our well-qualified statisticians are already analyzing pay data. We intend to recover the compensation due to the women of Riot Games and achieve institutional reform, (comma is not required) in order to level the playing field for women." >>Source Valve bans more than 40,000 Dota 2 accounts As gamer's, we've all run into cheaters. They come in all shapes and forms, but at the end of the day, a cheater is a cheater. One company that clearly doesn't put up with anything like that is Valve. Over the past week alone, their team has managed to ban over 40,000 accounts that were found to have violated their terms of service. "We are making our smurf detection system more sensitive in this update," Valve says. "This change will much more proactively target potential smurf accounts, but may on rare occasion give a normal player extra MMR." >>Source Call of Duty movie director wants to make a soldier film The popular action shooter franchise was scheduled to have a movie created based around either specific soldiers or specific missions in 2019. This all recently came to a close when parties involved were worried about the direction in which the movie was going in. There were struggles of power on both sides and figuring out where to shoot and how to shoot were the main questions that continue to be up in the air. The Italian director was ready, but according to him, the project is now in "limbo." >>Source KV for the Weeks of Feb 10 - 16 The following anime has released a KV or Key Visual the past few weeks: My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU Season 3, second season of 5-toubun no Hanayome, Fate/stay night: Heaven's Feel III, Sword Art Online: Alicization season 2, Violet Evergarden movie & Fruits Basket Season 2. >>Source Demon Slayer Takes Home Anime of the Year at Crunchyroll's Anime Awards Demon Slayer was definitely one of the most popular anime last season. It has won multiple awards not only for the anime but the manga too. Most importantly, Demon Slayer was able to win the grand award of Anime of the Year. Following that, the awards additionally won was "Best Boy" being the main character Kamado Tanjiro and "Best Fight Scene." It is not so much a surprise that this anime won AOTY. Nowadays, award shows are nothing special. You are able to tell immediately who is going to win, but do not let that negative statement get to you. The honor of being able to win an award is a great accomplishment and those who worked on the anime worked super hard to produce something great. >>Source 'Tokyo 7th Sisters' Idol Game Gets Anime Adaptation The mobile game that is popular in Japan, Tokyo 7th Sisters, will be getting a 70-minute animation coming to theatres in the summer of 2020. Those with access to the game outside of Japan, usually use an emulator or have access to the Japanese iTunes or Google Play store. Of course, Japan will be getting the screening first, and certain locations around the world will have delayed screenings for those who are outside of Japan, as per usual. Despite the name, the group of twelve girls will work together to revive the group, 777, and show that the idol industry is not dead. The anime was announced on the smartphone game during the celebration of their sixth anniversary. Previously, an announcement was made where the game was going to be getting a series, but that eventually was canceled. Multiple mobile rhythm games in the next year or two have also announced that they will be having anime adaptions. >>Source Multiple Cancelations Due to Coronavirus Multiple anime episodes and anime-related events taking place in Japan have been canceled due to the outbreak of the coronavirus. To ensure everyone's safety, multiple companies have simultaneously delayed episodes anywhere between one week from the airing date, all the way to two months. Of course, everyone's health comes first, but this is a big disappointment for those watching the anime included in this article. Starting first, we have A3! This anime has been mentioned in our past two editions and the producers over at Liber Entertainment have been delaying the anime for over three weeks now. The anime was scheduled to make its return on Feb 23, but instead, it will be, once again, delaying the broadcast of its latest episode. Liber Entertainment says that the screening of the newest episode, episode four, is said to air on April 27. This, of course, does not help the reputation of the anime, which already at the current state is not doing so well in terms of ratings. Certain TV broadcasting services, such as Tokyo MX, Sun TV, KBS Kyoto, and BS11 will be airing the show again, but from the beginning. Next, A Certain Scientific Railgun T's seventh episode did not air on Feb 21 and was also unavailable for those streaming the anime. Instead, for those living in Japan, the sixth episode was rebroadcasted. At the moment, no announcement has been made on a set date on when the anime will continue. Additionally, the anime Infinite Dendrogram is also delaying its newest episode, episode seven, due to the coronavirus. Just like A Certain Scientific Railgun T, there has been no release date on when it will make its return. Lastly, Bushiroad, the popular Japanese entertainment company, mostly known for their gacha games, or games that specialize in getting their players to spend money in order to obtain in-game items, have canceled all their sponsored events until late March. For those who purchased tickets, those interested are allowed to receive a refund if they do not wish to attend anymore or simply cannot. For Bushiroad, the coronavirus has forced the postponing of mobile game releases, media production such as music and videos, and even new card collections in Bushiroad's card company, Weiß Schwarz. >>Source RE: Hack Forums News // Edition 458 - Hydra - Feb 27, 2020 Want to showcase your own Battlestation (Computer Setup)? RE: Hack Forums News // Edition 458 - passCODE - Feb 27, 2020 Okay, so I have one concern about your news. How do you choose what giveaway will be featured? Why does some $20 giveaway get features and mine not? Do you just pick a random one or? Obviously I want exposure and it's a normal thing, why not? If I'm already doing something good for the community then I want to be noticed. Wouldn't featuring a bigger giveaway be a greater benefit to members?
