Hello everyone.
I'm a beginner pentester. First of all some of my background experience to give you an idea, i do have some good basics of programming C and python, networking (i'm still working on it) and a little bit of binary exploitation (i know how to make some basic old buffer/heap overflow) and in these days i feel a little bit lost.
I'm learning on HackTheBox and i've got the "hacker" rank, a great goal for me but i'm not satisfied.
I feel like i'm missing something, i'm just fucking around with these boxes without "knowing" what i'm actually doing, sometimes i get lucky and the boxes are pretty straightforward but other times i feel like i'm stuck and i can't do anything about it (that's when i ask for help and get the box done but i feel like shit because i don't like getting helped) and feel a little bit frustrated.
What i'm trying to say here is that i think to re-do everything, start understanding from a different point of view all or at least understand a different methodology to use.
So i'm asking for your help guys, where should i start learning and what i'm motivated and got a lot of time free so i can make all the effort i need to do.

TL;TR -> What the actually fuck i feel retarded i know the basics about hacking but i suck, i want to become a 1337 pentester but something is wrong with me, any help?

Nothing is wrong, it takes a long time and let's be honest the "first contact" with a new box yeah there is some time spent just bumming around chasing rabbits down. It's not like all the boxes are exactly the same so privesc is a quick and simple job.

Alright buddy, lemme tell you about my boy Mesopotamia. He's a hacker, and he used to feel he wasn't doing enough. He started studying, but then he upgraded his name to f4t4l3rr0r and everything started coming naturally. I suggest you pick up a better hacker handle than stoic, consider one of the following:
