Fried my motherboard or something? - Parkway - Mar 10, 2020 Was just playing modern warfare and my 2 monitors went black and now I can’t get them back on. My computer turns on but there’s no signal detected on the monitors. This has happened before while playing d2, I assume because it got too hot in there, but I always got it back on after I restarted it. I should have fixed this problem awhile ago but I’m a lazy bitch. Now I’m reaping the consequences lol. RE: Fried my motherboard or something? - ItsJigSaw - Mar 10, 2020 Your GPU died most likely. Is there any signal on monitors now? Is GPU fan on? Give us more info RE: Fried my motherboard or something? - Parkway - Mar 10, 2020 (Mar 10, 2020 01:49 PM)ItsJigSaw Wrote: Your GPU died most likely. Is there any signal on monitors now? Is GPU fan on? GPU fan is on and I tried the hdmi port in my motherboard as well as the GPU, no signal from either. Gonna try to move everything over to a new case and reseat the cpu if I can find my thermal paste. RE: Fried my motherboard or something? - HOMODIN - Mar 10, 2020 Could you please share your specs, gpu, mobo, cpu, ram (how many sticks), other peripherals, psu and so on. Be specific, give us all components u got and as much as possible information. Mobo is good imo, since u were able to turn it on, could be that hdmi port is dead or some other part of mobo RE: Fried my motherboard or something? - Parkway - Mar 10, 2020 (Mar 10, 2020 02:49 PM)ItsJigSaw Wrote: No signal at all or u can get to bios? I think it’s a heat issue that would cause it to shut off (not fully just to safe the parts from frying themselves) because it has happened before. RE: Fried my motherboard or something? - Washasat - Mar 10, 2020 to diagonase your issue, take anything out of your pc and leave only one single ram with the GPU taken out also. if you hear any beep sound ( which you normally should if your mobo isn't faulty), proceed to next step and put your gpu back. try to boot, if nothing happens then the gpu may be dead. RE: Fried my motherboard or something? - ItsJigSaw - Mar 10, 2020 Hmm, gpu fans are ok, psu should be fine bcs its giving power to components. Did u smell any burned electronics when this happened? Also, remove cable from monitors and tell me do u see the no cable notification or not. Also give it a try to boot with only 1 monitor connected. I also suggest disconnecting your gpu and trying to boot with integrated gpu RE: Fried my motherboard or something? - Parkway - Mar 10, 2020 (Mar 10, 2020 04:26 PM)ItsJigSaw Wrote: Hmm, gpu fans are ok, psu should be fine bcs its giving power to components. Monitors do give notification when disconnected, so it’s not those. Same issue with 1 monitor. Just tried without GPU and same issue. I think the cpu is the issue because there’s a red light indicator for it on the mobo. I’m not sure if it was there before. Id give a try to reseating your cpu and checking if all is connected properly. Also check with other cpu does it work. RE: Fried my motherboard or something? - SIM-3257834 - Mar 11, 2020 I've had the red light pop up for my CPU on my MSI MB as well. Had to clear out the cmos by removing the battery and discharge capacitors...unplug it and hold the power button. RE: Fried my motherboard or something? - Parkway - Mar 11, 2020 The red light actually looks to be for the VGA, I think it may have been on before. I couldn’t see well enough I thought it was for the CPU. I just tried resetting cmos and same problem occurs. All fans look to be spinning, I’m not sure what the problem is. RE: Fried my motherboard or something? - BlackHat444 - Mar 12, 2020 check cables first then check video cards RE: Fried my motherboard or something? - Parkway - Mar 12, 2020 I’m almost sure it has something to do with overheating because I was having problems with that before. I’ve tried reconnecting cables etc and the same issue occurs. Idk if I fried anything for good or not, all fans seem to be spinning so if it’s not my cpu then I don’t have a clue what else it could be (can RAM cause this?). Thermal paste will be here tomorrow hopefully |
