thats impossible m8, its all serverside. even if it LOOKS like you have 9999999 gems its still only client side so you cant spend it.

Simplified:
[Your phone] <- runs CoC, you send buy request to Clash of Clans building with 999..999... gems.
[Clash of Clans building] <- Checks database for how many gems you really have.
Client side = your phone
Server side = Clash of Clans building
Those 999....999 to infinity and beyond gems are only aesthetic. It's like saying your fake diamonds are worth a million. You go to shop to sell your fake diamonds and they detect them as fake.

There are stuffs that you can modify on CoC but you will be banned in no time if you do so.
The "modded apk's" you're seeing online on public forums is either not working or they are private servers, wich means that everyone that uses that APK will join a complete different server with the same benefits as you.

Which means:
A private server is like a crack den, anything goes.
You could do your vices in a public park, but you will get caught immediately.
