Change the bullhorn/megaphone icon to a chat bubble icon - SIM-1729678 - Apr 1, 2020

The convo function has been on Hackforums for a while now and I had a thought.

Currently, HF uses the bullhorn/megaphone icon for the Convo function[Image: Hk5NZM2.jpg]. The bullhorn/megaphone is an item that is used to amplify sound when they, for example, need to get the attention of a large or noisy group. The bullhorn/megaphone icon is, therefore, generally linked to, in this case, site announcements or updates.

The convo feature does not really feel like something that is meant to grab the attention of a large group. So I was thinking, why not change it to a chat bubble icon?

Let's say I am a new member, or even an old member returning. With the bullhorn/megaphone icon, I would feel like there is a new site announcement available instead of a new convo chat message. If HF was to change the Bullhorn/megaphone icon to a chat bubble icon it would suit the function way more.

I like that chat bubble icon more. When I see the bullhorn I always think announcements or anything community alert related.

I agree, I often get confused when I have a notification up there.

+1 from my side for this idea, I agree with you that Chat bubble is a much better option as compared to the current one.

This is a good idea but you're getting a -1 from me. Hackforums has a nice homely feel and charm, if too much changes, it will go away.

First it was the emotes, now this (I can see it being implemented whether I like it or not).

No problem my dude. It's sad that you feel that the chat bubble wouldn't benefit HF. I can understand where you are coming from but I hope that you can also see that it would benefit new members to see that it's a chat function and not an announcement function :)

I most certainly feel as if it would be an improvement. I only feel this way for the same reason as to why I cried at 15 years old when my mum bullied me into getting rid of my chair (falling apart, 1 wheel missing, snapped arm).

I'm overly conservative - can sometimes be a good thing though.

Honestly, I am still looking for some more people to vote on this. Very curious about what the community thinks.
