I'm going to exalt my ignorance here and just ask- why would you want to deliberately drive up your GA data with fictitious hits? It destroys the integrity of the data, and ruins using it for what it's designed for. And for what gain? To puff up your own ego when you look at your GA dashboard and see some numbers that now mean nothing?

I don't see how this helps you in any way. This will not help your organic ranking with Google. I assure you Google does not put any weight in the rankings on user-defined referral sources. Actual Google search traffic to your website is recorded separately and innately by Google in Analytics- you don't even need to set the referrer.

I see- so it's to be used on a competitor's site? I guess it could be annoying? But it'd also take someone with any knowledge of GA just a few minutes to filter out the data and go about their day.
