Does it ever happen that a rich person is giving away money on the internet - Maskin - Apr 7, 2020
I have been thinking about this and it's just a fun thought.
Do you think it ever happens that someone really rich would browse the internet (forums, gaming, etc.) and just give someone money for no reason? Has it ever happened?
If I won the powerball lottery, I would look around on HF and throw a couple hundred $ bills at peoples faces for no reason 🤣 After I'm done with my initial careless spending spree (1% of the total amount won), I'd be smart after that.

Probably, you never know.
But the majority of people who give away money, especially on social media, are scammers.
Twitter is full of "sugar daddies" that inspect element $500k PayPal balance and would send you the money if you just sent them your ID & SSN.
And then again, people think that if it's too good to be true, it usually is (which is usually true).
If I won the Powerball, I'd DM random people on IG and send them money. However, most wouldn't reply because they'd think it's a scam.

A lottery winner might, but that is why 70% end up broke in a few years.
Someone rich who earned there money had to be efficient and giving money away randomly isn't efficient.

I saw videos of some youtubers making big donations on Twitch etc.. but I'm not sure if that's legit.

Rarely. People who became millionaires because of hard work won't give even pennies cause they wouldn't be that rich if they were throwing money around.
As for those who won it through the lottery, they will give some money to friends in person rather than strangers online.

I remember back when Bitconnect was still a thing. Some of the big promoters would give away thousands of dollars daily to random people. Most money I've ever seen given away.

There's been a bunch of people here that have given tens of thousands to Omni over the years

Maskin Lol I like the way you said that. I would probably throw a couple dollars around as well for a minute.
As for people actually giving away money on the Internet, I've ran across a few fortunate people that give away BTC and that sort of thing. I know the owner of Energi cryptocurrency gives away money to orphanages etc.

Here in our country there's some unknown personalities that gives out some relief goods, money and tons of rice in places that are really in needs but because of the lock downs they can't get out of the city or region of their jurisdiction so they can't give more in some places.
