Blue light filtering glasses - Mercury - Apr 11, 2020

Do any of you guys use these on a daily basis? I've been noticing some pretty severe eye strain lately. My job demands 8+ hours a day on a computer and I need a solution. I figure, what better place to inquire about something like this?

Your thoughts?

Hey i work with a pc also, i got a pair and noticed a difference. They only cost like 10 - 20 bucks on amazon so i think it was worth getting them.

I just run everything on a dark theme and use a program called f.lux to adjust the amount of blue light.

Haha, thank you, glad to see someone link to this. Even the American Academy of Ophthalmology has ruled that these glasses are pointless; blue light doesn't cause eye strain or disease. It's peoples bad habits that do; such as sitting too close to their monitors, not blinking appropriately, etc.

In my opinion these are just placebo glasses. If wearing them makes you feel better, than who's to say they're not helpful for you from a psychological standpoint? Mind over matter after all.

I was wondering the same question about these things. Are they worth the money?

It always happen to me when i'm only looking at my screen for too long. I can spend double the time on my computer if i don't forget every now and then to look something else. Could be looking outside for few seconds, looking away while thinking, closing my eyes for a few seconds helps a lot !

Fucking waste of money dude. Just download f.lux and [insert app name here because i dont know it off the top of my head] on your phone and bam, you've got the glasses for free. Or you can alternatively buy the light bulbs but I don't see the point in that

Some people swear by them and some people think they are complete bullshit. The biggest thing is what helps you, and if you are experiencing strain, it would not hurt to try. They are not that expensive, and a lot of places still accept returns on them even if you try them out. Just hang on to the packaging.

$40 for years of use and no more eye strain sounds pretty worth it to me if they work, and if not, at least you tried something.

Personally I have never used any but I am not on the computer that long anyway. I don't really know anyone who uses them either. Sorry OP.

Your thoughts?

How old are you if I may ask?

Have you tried having your eye for a check-up? Maybe you might want to consider it first =)

I would make an appointment with your ophthalmologist to discuss what your options are, you very well may be in need of some prescription glasses or something in general that will help lessen the strain on your eyes and avoid possible headaches/migraines.
