Monitor recommendations please - .Infinity. - Apr 16, 2020 Could anyone recommend a monitor with the following specs? 4k 1 ms response time 144hz RE: Monitor recommendations please - webdev77 - Apr 16, 2020 Asus ROG Swift PG27UQ is pretty much the de facto option for you desired specs. (Unless you want a 43" display) RE: Monitor recommendations please - .Infinity. - Apr 16, 2020 That's perfect thank you :) Do you happen to know how 980 cards in SLI will perform on 4k for most games? My build is pretty outdated currently. i7 5930k processor as well RE: Monitor recommendations please - Cyam - Apr 17, 2020 (Apr 16, 2020 03:53 PM).Infinity. Wrote: That's perfect thank you :) I think you will need at least 1080ti for 4K gaming if you're hoping to reach 60FPS. Obviously stronger the better, but I'm not sure if your CPU and GPU will be sufficient in reaching 60FPS at 4K. RE: Monitor recommendations please - 4dik - Apr 17, 2020 my 980ti struggles with 4k to be really honest! I cahnged back to 1080p! But if really want 4k I would upgrade you card! RE: Monitor recommendations please - webdev77 - Apr 17, 2020 (Apr 16, 2020 03:53 PM).Infinity. Wrote: That's perfect thank you :) This set of benchmarks is pretty similar to what you would get. I think you would get 10% less frame rate since you don't have the 980 Ti's. https://www.techspot.com/review/1033-gtx-980-ti-sli-r9-fury-x-crossfire/ Stable game play above 60FPS is pretty good, but obviously stability at 144FPS would be ideal. If you are already planning to upgrade, I would, but most games will run 4K without issue but a select few will need to be toned down to 1440p or 1080p for high frame rates. If you look at the charts here -> https://www.tweaktown.com/articles/8116/gtx-980-ti-sli-vs-1080-amd-ryzen-1800x/index3.html You'll see that a single 1080ti outperforms 2 980s in SLI in a lot of the categories. RE: Monitor recommendations please - Marxist - Apr 17, 2020 Should also mention that SLI is pretty much dead in the gaming world. Nothing supports SLI. Just get a 1080Ti, or preferrably a 2080Ti. I was reading that the flagship NVIDIA cards come out late 2020, should I just wait until then if my goal is 4k gaming? No point getting a 2080 now if what they're saying about the new card performance is true right? RE: Monitor recommendations please - webdev77 - Apr 21, 2020 (Apr 21, 2020 09:03 AM).Infinity. The performance of a 2080 Ti doesn't go down just because and even better card comes out. We don't know if Nvidia is actually going to release new GPUs in the fall and we don't know what their pricing and actual availability will be. If you are comfortable waiting up to 2 years for a new GPU to come out, then consider waiting, but know that timelines on these sorts of things change all the time as well as pricing. TL,DR; Buy a 2080 Ti if you want a new GPU before 2021 for sure, otherwise feel free to wait and see what happens. Not to mention potential driver stability issues, potential DOA cards, and waiting on non-founders editions to be made and sold. I would just buy a 2080Ti and let the new card mature a bit. The 2080Ti can always be sold, and the new card can be bought later. |
