What would it take for this pandemic to reach movie levels? - Scooby - Apr 25, 2020

This is an unprecedented time, regardless of what people think about how to react to it. And we've all seen the disaster movies such as Outbreak and The Stand. If you haven't, stop reading this thread and go watch them. Both of them. Yes, I know The Stand is 6 hours long. Fucking watch it. You done? You glad you did? Thought so. Now then, what exactly do you think would have to either happen organically in nature or as a result of man's decisions for this pandemic to reach the levels in those movies?

I personally think it will be out lack of allocating hospital resources appropriately. Areas disproportionately affected will riot and we will see mini purges all across America which will lead to an overall general panic and martial law enacted, which in this administration would lead to total anarchy. I'm not saying this will happen, just that if something were to take us to extreme levels that this would be it.

I mean it has already been predicted by many that this will happen. I can recall back in 2014 with ebola a certain investigative journalist spoke about quarantine will be what the government will create to do their work.

Lack of food, supplies, and support from the government. The people will be overwhelmed with fear that they are alone and they will start looting stores, rioting, and overall wasting the efforts of the government in containing the virus.

I'm pretty sure it already has, honestly. This has changed life so much. So much drama has unfolded. And the responses from world leaders has been shocking. It's probably only going to get worse over the next few months unfortunatley.

I totally agree, bit that's bleak as fuck. That's why I'm trying to put it in the framing of a movie. Like, maybe it mutates to only infect the 1%. What would that be like? I bet we'd see more government intervention, for one thing.

Just chill up in my room for about a few weeks to a month then pop out while everyone kill each other.

We are already at the movie levels. Movies usually reference the number of cases related to diseases/pandemics in the millions. We are in the millions. They'll make a movie out of COVID someday.

Yeah np I got this.

-10x the amount of cases / deaths
-made you mobile (able to move) but technically dead, without a heartbeat or other vital signs
-It made your skin turn pale
-It made you crave human flesh
-Getting bit makes you infected
-made you unemotional, with no mercy toward the unaffected
-made you non-communicative (groaning and howling instead of speaking)

I mean, you're right of course. But I don't mean the "based on" or docudrama kind of movie. I'm talking blockbuster Brad Pitt world war z, the purge kind of movie.

You really are right, though. They're going to make a movie about this whole decade one day. It's this generation' Cold War where shit just gets crazier every day.

Aha. Like zombies popping out and everyone is running like in World War Z. That'll happen someday too. Maybe not in the next century. But it will happen. Problem is I won't be there to see it happen.

Outbreak is very close to what is happening today.
Good movie.

However what’s more important is how the government tried to cover it up in the movie.
Could this be the same thing? Perhaps.
Something to ponder.

I'm sure there will be sadly.

Movie level? Like Resident Evil or Contagion? I think factors like food supplies, water, basic necessities, support from the government in controlling this would be some of the factors. It's close to an outbreak in some parts of the world. Wouldn't be surprised if there's a sudden hostile spread-over in any country and it'd lead to disastrous results.
