How long would coding a keylogger take? - illuminare - Apr 28, 2020

Hi, I was wondering if anyone here has ever coded a keylogger and how long it took them to do it? I was looking at maybe hiring someone to code me a keylogger from scratch but I'm not sure yet on what I want to do with the situation.

Look into the API's GetAsyncKeyState and SetWindowsHookEx

Windows hook is the proper way to do it. GetAsyncKeyState may still have to be used in conjunction with SetWindowsHookEx to detect if the shift/caps key is currently down.

It's been a while since I made a keylogger but you will want to do it this way. Using GetAsyncKeyState will give you duplicate characters. Admittedly I have a feeling SetWindowsHookEx will be worse for runtime than GetAsyncKeyState so you will maybe want to look into anonymous delegates and unhooking dlls.

Good luck :)
