I bught a Laptop with a users account already logged in - Ampere - May 10, 2020
Hello Staff,
I am new and bought a laptop a couple days back for myself. After I signed up yesterday, I saw that another user was logged in to HF on a different browser.
I logged out of their account, but they had a last visit date of 2 months ago. I am considering buying L33T so that I can add signatures, but will their account being logged in on my IP ban me from upgrading? Or ban me from the forum for "multi-accounting"?

You should do a reformat on that device first before doing anything.

I guess OP isn't that familiar with buying second hand Laptops.
I just wonder if it's a legitimate story or just another multi-account trying to make-up his 'matching IP's story.. not accusing anybody of anything right now, just saying it's a weird story.

I'm sure if you messaged a moderator they'd sort it,
and like Astrogen said if it's a second hand laptop you should clear your drives, reinstall your OS and then check the battery health.

As awful as it sounds, i usually scan 2nd hand laptops to see if the user left anything on them before wiping them haha. Yea, I shouldve signed up after a wipe, but I cant change it now. I just dont want to be banned for a completely freak event.

It does sound awful and illegal, but not anything that I should worry about. Your hobby, not mine.
About the rules, I have no idea how that works or who 'decides' you will get banned or not.

I mean, the guy who left his account logged in is the risk. I just saw it and logged out. Im not the risk here haha.

I mean, its not hard to look at some forum rules and pick a forum to post a thread in. And id like a signature, as mentioned already.
I know its pretty slim odds but I dont really want to have any issues with being here!
