Hiding in audio files? - lulucherryade - May 31, 2020

Hey, I am very inexperienced in all of this, I was just wondering if it was possible to hide a RAT or a keylogger in an audio file? Or a video file if that's easier? Basically any kind of media file would work. Also was wondering if it was worth paying for one, do true free RATs and keyloggers exist? I assume a keylogger would be less valueble than a RAT which is why I'm interested in both, obviously a RAT would be preferred but I really don't know logistically what the differences between the two would be when it comes to hiding them in files.

Sorry if this thread is in the wrong place, I'm really new here! Any advice is appreciated :)

It is possible, however it doesn't mean that the piece of software you've hidden will run when the target file is being opened, it is not possible due to how things are designed.

Let me put it another way, if you build a robot with the sole purpose to move objects from a table to another table, just because you put a gun on the table, it doesn't mean that when it grabs it, it will start shooting just because that's how a gun is being used. If you want the robot to shoot if he grabs a gun, you need to change the way the robot works. Now think of your video/audio files, there's a clear process that defines what to do when such file is being opened, so even you put some other data, the 'robot' inside your operating system will do nothing with it. If you want it to execute your code, you need to change the implementation of the 'robot' that handles these file formats.

To answer to your other question, free RATs and keyloggers do exists and you can use them, however, if you're planning to use it on a large scale, you'll need to reconsider and move to something paid in order to get something more stable/scalable....
