Simple Tip to Reduce Your Online Footprint

I have a simple, yet highly effective recommendation on how to reduce your digital footprint.

Never use the same email to register across multiple sites(along with alias/name/password). Why?

  1. If those databases are leaked, and you are using the same email across multiple platforms, it'll be insanly easy to link accounts together, and further evaluate each account for more information.
  2. You want to make sure the only data someone can find on you, is the data that you designate to that site, in no scenario should you be allowing users to identify you from one forum account to the other.
  3. It makes it 100x harder on people investigating you to find the information they are looking for.

For example if I use the email [email protected] on all my forum activities, eventually, some of those forums will be leaked.
If an investigator wants to trace my online activities, all they have to do is search my email in their resources, and boom, my accounts/UIDs will popup and they'll have several data banks to collect information. And if I'm using different aliases on each forum, they'll now know more names I go by.

Same thing applies if I use the same username or post the same discord across forums, but a different email, they'll have access to my UID and potential future access to the database, they'll be able to link my emails together.

That's why it's important to use a separate email/alias/password/and even use a different proxy when possible.

If I used a different alias/email/password/and IP for each forum and didn't cross contaminate my methods of communication, then someone who's investigating me won't be able to link any other account.

tl;dr: use a different email/password/alias/IP(when possible) on everything you register for. Assume everything is going to be leaked.
* I recommend protonmail for email service.

Never too late to start brother.

Of course, it can definitely become a huge hassle.

Yes, a lot of people join hacking forums just as beginners and really don't understand the intentions and capabilities of people on the internet.

It gets fairly complicated and the methods people can get information on an individual are practically limitless.

Agreed, it can be dangerous when you don’t know who or what you’re dealing with. Information can be gathered in some unbelievable ways.

As much of a great idea as that is, it would be difficult to do that. You would have to either use your own domain and mail server to make 1000 emails or you'd have to signup on something 1000 times such as gmail which would be ridiculous. How would you check your emails? You would need some sort of client that can manage all those emails from different email accounts into one inbox. Idk it just sounds too unrealistic.

Laziness is what leads to a trail.

As someone who finds information on individuals almost everyday, I can tell you from experience is that trails make a HUGE difference.
