Marketplace sellers asking buyers to post on thread? - Shone - Jun 20, 2020 Hello, I've noticed some Marketplace sellers after sale ask the buyers to post on their sales thread in order to receive the product. Doing this, clutters the forums with generally useless, low quality posts (information that is only concerning the seller). It also serves as a completely free thread bump for the seller, promoting their threads further. With paid stickies existing, Byte bumping - it seems like a loop hole in the rules to get free bumps in such a way, especially since it fringes upon other sellers who don't "abuse" this. Is this allowed? RE: Marketplace sellers asking buyers to post on thread? - Skyline - Jun 20, 2020 Yes this is allowed within marketplace. So I would be allowed to mark my threads with AUTOBUY and then instead of delivering the product upon purchase, ask the buyer to post their order ID on thread so I can send them the product? When I was vendor on my old account, I would use the contract with autobuy link. When the customer receives the email to download the product from the autobuy, I made them download a .txt file informing them to post there order ID within my thread so I can easily identify them as the customer, so I can deliver there purchase via HF PM. I did this since 2015. And many other sellers here do the same thing. Hasn't been any marketplace violation warnings towards myself or any one I know doing this either. Alright, thank you for clarifying. Yes, this is allowed as they would be considered contracted customers at that point of having an order ID and/or TID. I remember purchasing something here back in 2013 and the seller instructed to post the order ID/TID on the thread itself in order to receive access to the product. Having customers post their order ID allows you as the seller to confirm that the person is a customer with the click of a button where it says:
RE: Marketplace sellers asking buyers to post on thread? - Zeus - Jun 20, 2020 I do this and i only do this aswell just to verify the skype they message on is the user who purchased the product as alot of fake people try and get it for free. RE: Marketplace sellers asking buyers to post on thread? - Winds - Jun 20, 2020 It honestly makes a lot of sense in my opinion, because if you're selling a digital product and you got people posting their order ID, it'll be way more easier to track chargebacks and open deal disputes on those who chargebacked their order. RE: Marketplace sellers asking buyers to post on thread? - SIM-1097664 - Jun 20, 2020 The order ID could be PMd or sent via Discord/Skype. Despite what anyone says, there is absolutely no reason to post it on the thread besides the free bump and advertising. RE: Marketplace sellers asking buyers to post on thread? - Bluffer - Jun 20, 2020 It's a good way for sellers to track their customers. RE: Marketplace sellers asking buyers to post on thread? - Varane - Jun 20, 2020 I have had my customers do this since 2017, it is a very easy way of quickly linking an order ID to an HF profile. Say a customer opens a charge back from over a month ago; It can turn out to be quite difficult tracking that user down but by having them post their order ID on the profile you can preform a simple search on the thread which can you give you a direct link to their profile. Also this has to surely be allowed as many vendors have been doing this for years without repercussions. It has nothing to do with bumps as nowadays you can get a bump for a mere 50 bytes with the vendor role, the true purpose of it is to connect order IDs to HF profiles. RE: Marketplace sellers asking buyers to post on thread? - SIM-4460064 - Jun 20, 2020 Someone bought the product, I think that's worth a bump. We don't have any rules that say in order to bump your thread you gotta purchase a sticky or use Stanley. We recommend it yes, as it's frequent occurrence to get warned for low quality bump, but not mandatory. Only rules we have is that your bumps (the one OP posts aka you) has to affect your sales. More detailed explanation is in Help Docs. Marketplace users have been doing that for years and that's not really an issue. The real issue becomes when you have OP posting fake order ids from multiple accounts or trying to recycle them from your previous threads. That results in a warning, hefty ban or a closed account depending on the severity. They usually get caught as competition is fierce around here. So to sum it up, order ids as replies are fine as long you two have a contract between you two. Usually if it's a vendor and contract templates are set up properly, there's a high chance there will be a contracted customer tag present, too which is the best scenario. |
