Lower APIv2 byte deposit minimum - Rally the Bulls - Jul 6, 2020

Would it be feasible to lower the byte deposit minimum with the new API?

With my current project, I'd like to allow anyone to partake, but at the moment anyone who doesn't have a spare 100 bytes to throw at it cannot play.

I understand 100 bytes isn't necessarily difficult to obtain, but many users that play my game have requested this, and each time I have to remind them I cannot change the minimum deposit.

Xerotic told me to post a suggestion to get community feedback on it nearly a week ago, and I've just been too busy.

I think ideally, the deposit and withdraw limits would mirror each other, at 15 bytes.

Thoughts?

Having it a bit higher than 15 bytes would encourage posting in my opinion. Something like 30-50 bytes would be like the sweet spot.

Yeah I don't see why not.

Would allow users to test out 15 bytes and do a proper trial of your site.

I mean maybe for non-upgraded users it is difficult to reach 100 bytes, so yeah lowering the minimum deposit could be a thing

Four days of daily checkin isn't really that hard.

You're right, I was only thinking about how many bytes per post they get and forgot about the daily checkin

I think the minimum should be 50 bytes. 100 seems too much.

The concept is to avoid a ton of small transactions into the logs. 100 Bytes is fine for now. API is still new and until we fix bugs and know how resources will be it will remain 100. I would consider a change in the future but not now.

Understood. Thanks for the response!

By the way... let's take a look at Byte earnings.

https://hackforums.net/misc.php?action=help&hid=43

For non-upgraded members they get:
2 βytes Per Reply
5 βytes Per New Thread
.25 Earned βytes For Thread Starter On Each Reply
2 βytes Per Poll Creation
1 βytes Per Poll Vote

They also get 25 Bytes when they check in to the Daily Check in thread. Also consider 10 Bytes for a Quick Love if they receive it.

Consider the following....

You have 0 bytes. You post in the Daily Check in thread. You are now at 27 (25 + 2). You decide to post an interesting thread to engage in conversation with other members.
You post the thread and are immediately at 32 Bytes. Perhaps you have a couple pages of replies and discussion and you've earned a quick love or two. Now you should be close to 50-60 Bytes. If you start posting in other member threads and engage there then you can quickly start racking it up quicker.

And that's with a non-upgraded account. Different account tiers have multipliers applied to the above listed values.

Example: L33t members have a Bytes multiplier of 1.5x. This means that instead of earning 2 Bytes per reply, they earn 3. Instead of 5 Bytes per thread, they earn 7.5.

Here is a list of Byte multipliers for each account tier:

Non-upgraded: 1
L33T: 1.5
Ub3r:  2
V3ndor: 2
Mentor: 2
Staff: 3
Admin: 1

If you are an Ub3r member you can get to 100 Bytes awfully quick from 0.

You also forgot that we have a 5 Bytes bonus for your first post.

Upgrading to L33t is a 500 bytes bonus too.
