What do you guys suggest for long term holds still fairly new and looking at different option of investing.

If you don't know what you are doing, long term S&P 500 ETFs or other funds that track with selections of stock that have historically been proven to do well are safe options that can make you just as much money as many professional investors.
So yes, ETFs are a great option to pick. Fees are generally pretty low and are worth it in a lot of cases. Personally, I like Vanguard compared to other fund operators because their fees are usually the lowest and their returns are the same as others.
