Need a build recommendation ($5-600) - Crypt - Aug 7, 2020

I need to do a little build. This will just be used for online browsing/shopping. No graphically intense programs will be used and I'll need at least a 1tb SSD and preferably an 8 core CPU but I suppose something a little less will be okay to make the price range. What do you guys recommend.

I have no idea why you want such a powerful cpu and a 1tb ssd just for browsing the web but okay

If I switch it out for a ryzen 5, what should I upgrade?

You're right, I don't really need the ryzen 7.

RE: Need a build recommendation ($5-600) - wizardblizzard - Aug 7, 2020

i5 6500, 16gb ddr4, and any lga1151 motherboard with internal graphics, evo hyper cooler.. otherwise I would just buy the cpu and save for the rest.

I don't see what needs upgrading honestly with your usage. I'm using a 1st gen i5 laptop with a hard drive for the same thing you're using this for.

Yeah, let's go back to 6th gen when 10th is out. Not including that ryzen is better.

Good luck building a 600 dollar computer with $400+ parts.

I just did, see above. It's far faster than the dinosaur you listed

I threw some stuff together and did a different kind of build. did the ryzen 5, dropped SSD to 500GB and got a 650W gold rated power supply. What do you think of all this.

Kind of going over budget at $670 but it would be a decent build for a while.

Powersupply is overkill but if you want a higher watt power supply get this. Seasonic is the top-end of power supplies:

Overall I think this build is complete overkill for what you're looking to use it for, but it is a solid build that will work for what you want.

What do you think about this one?: https://www.amazon.com/Apevia-ATX-PR600W-Prestige-Certified-Compliance/dp/B07NWZQX1J/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=500w+power+supply+80+gold&qid=1596842078&s=electronics&sr=1-1

Pretty good price.

My remarks were due to it being a dated system and OP budget. There isn't a need to go backwards and get something worse. A ryzen 3100 would be faster. It's not bullying, its stating facts. I talk this way to everyone if I find something off.

I've been in the COCH section for a long time. Probably the longest out of everyone that still posts here.

Pretty good price.

It's not too bad. That's a surprisingly good PSU to bare the "Apevia" name.

I'm happy that it works for you dude, but just because it works for you, doesn't mean it will work for anyone else.

Yeah, it looks reliable and saving another $50 would be nice. I've had bad experiences ordering power supplies online but I may give it a shot.
