Funeral - Mr. Tycoon - Sep 15, 2020

I was looking at funeral arrangements out of curiosity. As it’s something I’ve never had to think about, but I thought to myself that I don’t want to leave my arrangements to others as they won’t truly know what I want.

The first question I was asked was “buried or cremated” then I had this huge moment of deciding what was right, a thought was, well, I’m dead. (At the time of it needing to matter, duh) but seriously, how do you get past that step? “Pros and cons” of being buried:cremated?

RE: Funeral - Artisan - Sep 15, 2020

Depends on your religious beliefs really. If you are religious and your doctrine says you should be buried then go for it. Its eco friendly, feeds the soil when you rot and you get good deed points. If you arent religious then pick whichever one you want coz you clearly have the freedom to choose. Thered be a lot of smoke and smog if everyone decided to get cremated though (sorry for the bias).

I’m a Jew by default though by nature very much nothing. Had never followed my “roots” of such and for me, I’ll be dead by that point. I was wondering though, if we “feel” anything. I know it’s ludicrous really, but I’m afraid of the burning but also afraid of the dark and cold.

I also think it has a lot to do with beliefs (religion, family, society etc..)
From experience, the time scale for each is very different for the ones left behind - A burial is usually completed pretty quickly (days or weeks) and the body is buried, and kind of done and dusted - A cremation can be over a year before you have to scatter the ashes.

Both have their pros and cons, and opens up more questions - Is it better to get it over with so they can move on and begin to deal with loss and grief or is it better to let them do it in their own time?

I have a friend who lost his mother a few years ago, and she was cremated - It took his sister over a year to get to the point where she felt strong enough to scatter the ashes and finally let go, most people felt it was too long and she wouldn't let go and it stopped her from moving forward. Who knows?

She finally agreed to scattering the ashes after the doctor stepped in with bereavement counselling and she was gently pushed towards a healthy direction.

So yeah, its a big multi layered thing to ponder when you begin to go deep into it.

I do ponder this too and have never come to any perfect solution lol - Think ill just leave some cash and whoevers here can decide what they would like to do, its them who be dealing with it after all lol

I mean this is definitley a personal decision it's whatever you feel is right. I personally think I want to be cremated, just something about being buried that creeps me out.

I agree to this brother...some do wants to be cremated and some other don't want to because of their religions and the teachings they have.

RE: Funeral - Free Kurdistan - Sep 16, 2020

I don't have a single reason to get cremated and I would never choose it nomatter what.

RE: Funeral - PokeBong - Sep 16, 2020

Personal preference... I'd prefer to be cremated so my loves ones can have me with them instead of being stuck in the ground..

RE: Funeral - Regulus - Sep 16, 2020

Just dump me in the ocean or in the sea and I'll be happy lol.

I agree with Artisan. I think its more of your belief/religious...

RE: Funeral - Mr. Corleone - Sep 16, 2020

Honestly don't care.
My family and friends both share different religions.
I know that even if I choose how my funeral will go, it will not go the way I want.

RE: Funeral - Blogger - Sep 16, 2020

Being cremated is a lot cheaper, but being buried gives your loved ones somewhere to grieve and a lot of people need that. I think those are the biggest things to consider.

RE: Funeral - SIM-4033767 - Sep 16, 2020

Being burries is better imo cuz you get a thombstone and a place where you can visit etc

RE: Funeral - jecoylecoy - Sep 17, 2020

If you're a Christian Mate, its better to be buried.
