[PROJECT PRIVACY] LEARN DOXING AND BASIC FOOTPRINT REMOVAL - John Doe - Oct 9, 2020 ![]() Welcome to our first of many guides soon to come along with products. At project privacy we believe in one thing, privacy as you may have guessed. We are dedicated towards educating members of the online community on numerous areas of the technology industry. Any feedback is well appreciated. ![]() What is doxing? Doxing is the act of gathering data on a individual through both public and private means. Within hacking communities these can include information such as addresses, bank statements, credit cards and a lot more personal information. Peoples intentions with doxing can often be malicious but as we have seen from recent events the act of tracing and tracking an individuals digital footprint has helped to find many missing people. Now you maybe be wondering where you may find information on people well as you guessed for most of us the answer would be on the internet. There is a lot of ways we can track a user down and a lot of ways we can remove traces. Before we get into how to do it we need to understand what you already know. Some users might know about database breaches and other forms. We are all in a database somewhere if we have ever purchased something online and every single one of us has re-used a password on more than one site through out our life. How do we find information? There are many different places we can look to our primary starting point being Google. Now you may think google is harmless however its actually a very useful tool. Try googling your name, you probably wont find anything about yourself but using the right google dorking you will stumble across a lot. Please do take a moment to read the google dork cheat sheet to understand what types of dorks exist. https://www.sans.org/security-resources/GoogleCheatSheet.pdf Now say we where trying to dox me just based of my name "John Doe", putting the name in speech marks in google would start to search through googles cache system finding pages that contain the name, if we wanted to be specific and check if someone has already doxed me we would do intitle:Dox “John Doe” This would check the meta titles of pages indexed on google for dox and John Doe. Our next thing to look into is social media, considering its 2020 nearly everyone is using social media in some way, wether its snapchat, facebook, instagram, twitter. Using dorkings from google we should be able to pinpoint them on atleast one social media. For example with facebook we are able to search names and filter by location (Which you could find on things such as yellow pages, or GEOIP searches). This one is a bit tricky, its more of a social engineering attack on the individual. The best way to get information on a high profile target is by manipulating them, this can be done by befriending them, or even befriending their family, a great example of this is those that have ever gotten a email from a long lost uncle who needs you to send some money to get more, sounds stupid to us but thats the most basic of SE attacks you would be surprised how many people fall to this. Databases. Now finding information in databases is an interesting one if you have a large compilation of hacked databases you can run a grep search through the files to find names, emails, passwords, there are also online tools such as https://snusbase.com/ and many more that are on the market. If your target has a website you can try run a whois search, if its not already been covered by whois protection. A basic example of this is http://whois.domaintools.com If you have enough information and a bit of a brain you can actually aquire drivers license information. You are able to calculate and determines someones license number using their gender, dob, first/last name initials, this only works for usa and i believe its against the forum rules to show you exactly how. Footprint Removal? You have to first find the content you want to remove, start by doxing yourself and saving all the google search results that you need removed. You can find people using 411, usaphonelookup.com, tineye (Reverse image search). If your information is on forums that you dont have access too, you should look at the information available and go back and change that using your public info, with new passwords, new emails. If you find information thats on pastebin you can request removal especially now that there is GDPR http://pastebin.com/contact Any other sites, you should attempt to contact and state the right to be forgetton laws and GDPR, they should respect your request, try WHO.IS the site owner and contact them. You can also edit all data on google cache and bing by using these links to request removal. https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/removals?pli=1 https://www.bing.com/webmaster/help/bing-content-removal-tool-cb6c294d Some More resources.
