Steganography Tutorial - Hide Message Within Picture File - Blockonome - Oct 18, 2020

Dear HF,

I guess this is my first tutorial and thought this would be the right section to put it in. If it is not, please let me know. Not sure how many knows Steganography, but it is a creative and funny way to hide different kind of messages within different files. In this specific tutorial, we will focus on hiding a message within a photo file.

Steganography Definition:
/stɛɡəˈnɒɡrəfɪ/
noun: steganography

the practice of concealing messages or information within other non-secret text or data.

Step 1: Find your photo and write your message.

Choose your photo file and make a .txt file with the message, you want to hide.

In our case, our text will be "Hello World."

Step 2: Creating the final file in CMD.

Open up CMD and type the following command.

"cd desktop"

"Copy /b nameofphotofile.png + nameoftextfile.txt nameofyournewfile.jpg"

Now you have your file with the concealed message.

Step 3: Unveil the message.

If you want to find the hidden message inside the picture, you will have to open it with Notepad. Otherwise, if you open the file as normal, it will show the picture.

Especially for those who do not want to upload their files to some platform who might use their data for other purposes.
