Check the Upgrade page. You get 500 Bytes per L33T upgrade and 1000 Bytes per UB3R upgrade.
This could be a reason, but I'm unsure.

This is exactly my method and why I am able to beat Omni's price I'm proactively buying the upgrade bytes at $2/k.

It is a great deal as long as it lasts. Who knows when it will end. Even if I have to eventually change my prices back to normal I will still always accept bytes.
