How do I automate website commands? - requiredhq - Dec 12, 2020

What is the best language or bot coder app to automate website input, click buttons and upload things? Looking to make a custom bot, I'm proficient in some languages but would like to see what you guys prefer. I'd like to do it without APIs, strickly browser website inputs.

Thanks.

You could always use puppeteer.
developers.google.com/web/tools/puppeteer

It's a Node library that provides a high-level API to control headless Chrome (Or Chromium or Firefox if configured to do so).

Works like a charm for automation.

OR, could just use TamperMonkey/Whatever userscript plugin to automate stuff through JS.

OR, could monitor HTTP(S) traffic on your computer, watch outgoing requests and mimic. Though this solution doesn't input into any fields, only submits data.

We generally use the WebDriver from Selenium now. By using recording we can POC things quite rapidly and via code we can fine tune things where we need to, even enriching the data we input with responses from APIs.

Good options already suggested. I have used the robot framework for testing purposes, but it would work for this too.

I will also suggest Selenium for your Web Automation needs. Debug then recreate it with Selenium.

Probably Selenium or Puppeteer, language can be whatever you prefer, I'd assume Python is the fastest to write in.

This video might give you an idea of what a (basic) workflow might look like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvFAuUcowT4

Really a lot of good options. I once used Cypress (UI E2E testing framework) to automate some tasks which was working well.

I'd either go with Python or PHP on this one.
Pretty much a LAMP setup.

I would use selenium and webdriver with python for this purpose. Very well supported and easily manageable.
